IL GRANDE TEMA DEI RIFIUTI E DEI COMPORTAMENTI VIRTUOSI
Ovunque, nei paesi evoluti vecchi e ricchi come in Europa, o quelli in via di sviluppo o anche poverissimi il tema dei rifiuti e delle risorse materiali è cruciale. Non è solo una questione economica, estetica e politica ma anche di performances sociali e di qualità della vita.
Oggetti con cariche simboliche forti e oggetti con funzioni sociali e domestiche sono coinvolti nella questione sociale dei rifiuti. Il tema dei rifiuti come risorsa, e in quale percentuale, coinvolge gli esseri umani in tutto il mondo. Diventerebbe irrimandabile la creazione e lo sviluppo di una relazione molto stretta fra comportamenti virtuosi e qualità della vita. Inutile ricordare le migliaia di chilometri quadrati delle cinque isole di rifiuti che stanno galleggiando fra gli oceani e quanto questa situazione faccia sorridere gli abitanti dei paesi (Cinesi in testa) che hanno il pil in forte crescita. O anche, per restare in Europa, l’enorme montagna di rifiuti davanti alle coste libanesi.

COME L’ARTE CONTEMPORANEA PUÒ CREARE CONSAPEVOLEZZE
Aree della sperimentazione estetica negli ultimi decenni hanno fornito all’economia e alla politica interessanti indicazioni in particolar modo opere che lavorano su concetti di partecipazione condivisa. Quando, attraverso eventi pubblici, fasce di popolazioni differenziate per età sono coinvolte si avranno in seguito ricadute di interesse verso la raccolta differenziata dei rifiuti. Una definizione di Arte Pubblica in Italia e aree della ricerca estetica in tutto il mondo ne hanno tracciato i risultati, come viene attestato dalle ultime biennali d’arte del sud del mondo come del nord (oltre che da percorsi espositivi come quelli a Kassel, Munster o Basilea, per restare in Europa).
Inoltre da anni artisti visivi singoli in aree differenti del pianeta sono impegnati in sperimentazioni che vogliono interrogare sui temi dell’ambiente, sia della sua conservazione che della difesa del territorio.

WORKSHOP
E’ un’attività pratica di conoscenza dei materiali, intorno ad ogni suo aspetto, sia organolettico che sociale, coniugato alla conoscenza di quelle aree dell’Arte Contemporanea che hanno dato un particolare interesse verso i materiali di recupero, riuso e riciclo dei rifiuti. Le caratteristiche fisiche dei materiali indagati dal Workshop permette ogni genere di approccio alla conoscenza, sia attraverso l’assunzione del gioco oppure anche la ricerca di funzioni più complesse. Durante il workshop ognuno avrà la possibilità di realizzare un oggetto con caratteristiche funzionali o anche soltanto estetiche.

THE GREAT SUBJECT OF WASTE AND VIRTUOUS BEHAVIOUR
Everywhere, in developed countries as old and rich as those in Europe, in developing countries, or even very impoverished ones, the issue of waste and material management is crucial. It is not only an economic, aesthetic or political issue but also one of social performance and quality of life.
Objects with strong symbolic charges and objects with social and domestic functions are involved in the social question of waste. The subject of waste as resource, in some percentage, involves human beings all over the world. The creation and development of a very close relationship between virtuous behaviour and quality of life would become irresistible. It is not enough to just acknowledge the thousand of square kilometres of the five waste islands floating among the oceans and how it brings smiles to the inhabitants the countries (Chinese in the lead), with strong growth in their GDP. Or even, to keep ourselves in Europe, the huge mountain of waste in front of the Lebanese coast.
HOW CONTEMPORARY ART CAN RAISE AWARENESS
Areas of aesthetic experimentation in recent decades have provided the economy and politics with interesting inputs, especially works that show concepts of shared participation. When, through public events, all the age-groups of populations are involved, there will then be an interest in the separate collection of waste. Public Art in Italy and areas of aesthetic research around the world have shown results, as is attested by the latest art biennials in the southern hemisphere as well as the northern (as well as by exhibitions such as those in Kassel, Munster or Basel).
For years now individual visual artists in different areas of the planet have been engaged in experiments that want to question environmental issues, both its conservation and its territorial defences.
WORKSHOP
A practical activity on the knowledge of materials, around every aspect, both organoleptic and social, combined with knowledge on the areas of contemporary art that have given a particular interest to recovered materials, reuse and recycling of waste. The physical characteristics of the materials as investigated by the Workshop would allow any kind of approach to the knowledge, whether through assumptions or even through the search for more complex functions. During the workshop everyone will have the opportunity to create an object with functional or even just aesthetic purposes.
