The Municipality of San Quirico d’Orcia is pleased to announce that Saturday, 5 August 2017, at 18:30, we will be inaugurating the first stage of the Forme nel Verde sculpture exhibition  by Gaia Pasi in Horti Leonini. For this edition, Gaia Pasi will present the works of young artists whom are students of the Carrara and Florentine Academies of Fine Arts. This year’s event, sponsored by the Region of Tuscany and carried out as part of Toscanaincontemporanea2017, takes its cue from the Interculturale Les chemins du bleu en Europe (The Ways of Blue in Europe) project sponsored by the Tagliolini Foundation that together with the municipality of San Quirico d’Orcia, involves partnering countries: France, Spain, Portugal and Romania. The exhibition Les chemins du bleu en Europe. Forme nel Verde sulla Francigena in Val d’Orcia is dedicated to communication routes such as Francigena and Teutonica which, over the centuries, have served to build links between the different populations on the European continent, and thus shaping the current European Union. The roads are therefore a metaphor (not only) for the union of peoples under the blue sign, but for the chosen colour as the distinctive chromatic element of Europe and of the exhibition.

Les chemins du bleu en Europe. Forme nel Verde sulla Francigena in Val d’Orcia this year will present the works of over 100 emerging artists under 35, dividing them into two separate openings:

5/08/2017 ”Giardino d’Europa” (Gardens of Europe) collective sculpture exhibition at Horti Leonini.

14/10/2017 ‘Il ratto d’Europa’ (The Rape of Europa) sketches and the ‘Il blu dell’Europa’ (The Blue of Europe) collective painting exhibition at the Palazzo Chigi, which will be visible to the public respectively from November 5 until December 3, 2017.

The first stage of Les chemins du bleu en Europe. Forme nel Verde sulla Francigena in Val d’Orcia – GIARDINO D’EUROPA (GARDENS OF EUROPE) will open on 5 August 2017 at 6:30 pm and will involve the Horti Leonini where there will be a series of sculptures of animals and fauns, works by artists: Diego Bocelli, Saverio Bonelli, Maria Bressan, Elia Buffa, Giulia Capaccioli, Camilla Cusumano, Amedeo Desideri, Raffaele De Maria, Alessia Guglielmetti, Chiara Mantovanelli, Mariaelena Mariotti, Niccolò Nencioni, Pierluigi Pagni, Arianna Papi, Antonio Reda, Gabriele Ruzzante, Silvia Scaringella, Giuseppe Spadaro, Jacopo Pischedda, Marco Venturini, from the Carrara Academy of Fine Arts Sculpture Programme.

The sculptures will gravitate around a large waterfall, composed of BLUE garbage bags, made on the central staircase of Horti Leonini, site specific work of artists, Chiara Bigazzi and Chiara Manetti, from the Carrara Academy of Fine Arts Scenography Programme.

The exhibition opens on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 18:30 – Horti Leonini, Municipality of San Quirico d’Orcia
